Day 1 – Tokyo – Oga Hanto – Akita
3:00 AM start from Tokyo with Emmanuel and Praveen. Nice night ride on Tohoku Expressway but Emman’s Ducati got in trouble at Yamagata PA.
Ducati’s open rear….
The Ducati neeeded a few hours at Yamagata so Praveen and me headed towards Oga. Nice Paddy fields and scenary along the route
Not sure what these were meant to be but found them everywhere
The beasts in Oga Hanto
Finally we reached Mount Kampuzan. By this time Emman’s Ducati was flying on Korean rear tire and he was well ahead of us. We stopped a lot for photos and were trailing behind.

Our plan was to stay in Oga overnight but we ran in to trouble here. We didnt had a hotel reservation and most of the hotels we called were booked. We explored around a bit but coudlnt find any place to stay. Finally we decided to stay in Akita, booked a hotel and set on to circle Oga Hanto for its beautiful west coast sunset. It was perfect timing
Wrong focus by my friend here
Beautiful west coast sunset
Praveen and me stopped a lot to take photos while Emman and George went ahead
It was quite evident t us why Oga is famous for its sunset. My point and shoot camera just doesnt do justice to the scenary
Out fetish to touch all the tips of Japan – Emman and me at yet another one
Wew then headed over to Akita and checked in at the hotel. Had a heated discussion over the dinner. Emman, George and Praveen wanted a late start next morning where as I was hell bent to ensure I will see Lake Usorisanko and Osorezan. In end we decided on split start. I would start ahead if I can wake up in time.
Day to – Akita-Lake Usorisanko- Cape – Cape Omazaki – Lake Usorisanko – Aomori – Tokyo
I woke up at 5:00 AM and left for Tsugaru before 6:00 AM on route 285. Typical of Akita, route 285 and sorroungings were foggy but beautiful
Route 285 was extremely nice
but somehow I made a mistake and ended up off road!
The S10 was fairing well on the gravel but I freaked out after a while especially after almost loosing my front once. Turned back, found tarmac and headed to Osirezan.
Finally Lake Usorisanko at Osorezan. erry silence and in the middle of nowhere, i just love this place!
It was a beautiful day out there!
Looking at iPhone GPS locations I found that Emman, Praveen and George were quite far behind so instead of heading to Cape Omazaki straight I decided to circle the whole west coast of Tsugaru Hanto. Very twisty roads which required lot os concentration and were total fun to ride so I stopped little for photos. Some photos enroute
Cape Hakkaimisaki (bottom south west tip of Tsugaru Hanto)
More riding on the west coast and more photos
Finally we met up at Cape Omazaki
Same festish, another tip!
It was getting dark but rest of the gang wanted to see Lake Urosisanko so we headed towards Osirezan again and made it just in time
We then came back to Aomori. Instead os staying I decided to continue back to Tokyo. Hopped on to Tohoku expressway around 9:00 PM and was back at home around 4:00 AM.
The S10 op top of Mount Kampuzan!! Its truely a long distance tourer!
